As Legal Counsel, you will work with the Head of Competition Law Compliance on driving the design and implementation of the Volvo Group’s global competition law compliance program and advising the business on the full range of related law topics.

Group Compliance is a head-office function responsible for managing the Volvo Group’s anti-corruption, competition law, export control & sanctions, and data protection compliance programs – as well as the Volvo Group’s whistleblowing channels. Group Compliance works in close cooperation with the legal functions and other stakeholders of the Volvo Group.

The role

Key responsibilities will include:

• Support with the design and implementation of the Volvo Group’s competition law compliance program, including guidelines, trainings, risk assessments, etc.
• Advise the business and legal colleagues on complex and strategic competition law matters.
• Provide competition law support for strategic activities such as partnerships, JV formations, and M&A activities – including multi-jurisdictional merger filing processes.
• Support with competition law authority enquiries and investigations.
• Monitor relevant legal developments and how they may impact the Volvo Group.

All the above tasks will require close collaboration with cross-functional teams from different parts of the Volvo Group.

About you

You are a talented lawyer with solid competition law expertise, ideally from an international setting.

• A law degree from an accredited law school with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a competition lawyer from a top-tier law firm, in-house legal department, or competition authority.
• Experience advising on the full range of competition law topics, including horizontal and vertical agreements, and dominance-related questions.
• Experience managing multi-jurisdictional merger filing proceedings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

In order to be successful in this role you need to have a sound business judgement and ability to provide solution-oriented and business-friendly advice. You can collaborate effectively and build relationships with stakeholders at different levels of the organization. You have strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex legal issues while managing tight deadlines.
